Fortune, as a divinity, has not been a characteristic totem deity, in Christianity- something perhaps for individuals to work with, themselves... there could be a Marah Fortuna form of Mary, true- but actually the goddess Mary is a different than Fortune. Mary was an avatar of Spenta Armaita, a very high goddess- also called C'penta Armai'j (in an esoterically more correct spelling): Morgan La Fay, or La Fata of the Arthurian times, was Fortune incarnate, which goddess is called Hlaakshmi, in the East; Niamh, also, was an Avatar- of Venus! Gweniviere, or Gwynhwyfer was at least the embodiment of Fem-Fatale...
In the East, Fortune is a supreme, or primal goddess, the consort of Vishnu, whom many think of as a supreme deity- her daughter (like Princess is to Queen), Success, incarnated as Radha- known affectionately as Sri Radharhini, the consort of Krishna. Krishna was actually an avatar of Vivasvan, the sun god- but as all are Vishnu, in a sense, and as Krishna was a Redeemer avatar- Love or Goodness incarnate- he is known as one of the Ten Avatars of Vishnu. The very ancient Bhagavan religion there did originate with emphasis on possessions, such as land, wealth, etc.- as gifts from the divinity. This might have waxed during the past Age Of Taurus- the Second House in astrology is concerned largely with those things- also, with Love, Govinda- perhaps the roots of Tantra are there too. Aphrodite, as called by greeks...
Fortune could actually be thought of as the Fourth member of a godhead, Mother, Father, and Son. In the Universe history, the Mother appeared first, which manifestation is sometimes called The Holy Ghost (actually more her Effluence rather); then, The Father, who is associated with the Purushashottama or supreme Universe driving masculine Power; then The Son, the Logos of Creation and Life. Numerologically Zero through Four- the Fourth, then, Fortune!
